Is the Fox theater better than the Alliance theatre in Atlanta?

Pasty Cobbett: The theatres are actually very different. The Fox is a venue for traveling, broadway style productions. It hosts tours of traveling theatre productions, concerts, comedians, etc.The Alliance Theatre is the largest producing theatre in the SE. It's won a Tony Award for best regional theatre. The Alliance produces new works and classics - from selecting the cast, to sewing the costumes, to building the sets - everything is done by the theatre company. The Alliance also partners with national playwrights and producers to produce new and original works on its stage. Its season typically includes 10-12 productions. So the short answer is there is a reason to experience both. If there is a show making a national tour that you've wanted to see (like Wicked) you'll probably see it at the Fox. If you want the best in new, original theatre (like the Alliance's upcoming world premiere of a Stephen King & John Mellencamp musical in Spring 2012), you'll go to th! e Alliance....Show more

Cole Desher: I completely agree with Kathleen's wonderful answer! If there's anything we can do to help you at the Fox, please don't hesitate to contact us.Best regards,RussRuss@foxtheatre.org...Show more
