Logging hours in ultralight aircraft?

Rona Ising: Hmm, I doubt logging hours in an Ultralight would count towards a General Aviation license. You get credit for the hours nontheless, but they're not applicable to a GA license due to the fact that a true UL is an UNlicensed aircraft. And doesn't operate exactly the same way as a heavier aircraft does. BTW, let me know where you can buy "cheap" UL aircraft...I want one! Unless you're a Beemer-drivin' rich-boy , I don't know of many ULs under 7-8k except used myself, and I can't afford even those. Even 2k would be a big stretch for me these days. Octavio Roylance: The only Country i am aware of that allows you to use any ultralight hours toward a conventional license is Canada. Way back in the 1980's i used to teach both ultralight and conventional pilots. In Canada you need a license to fly pretty much anything and if you had an ultralight ticket you could use 5 hours of that time towards a conventional license. And even then it had to be a 3 axis ultralight not a weight shift or 2 axis control. Other than that i don't know of anybody that allows it....Show more
