Does Austin have a good public transportation system?

Shena Etulain: Austin has some of the best transportation systems in the US!!! You rarelly see graffiti, and Buses are really clean!!! If its hot outside, Its cool on a bus, and its only 25cents for students and 50 cents for adults!!! or ride all you want for $1 !!! This is the best!!! Free internet on the bus!!! Imagine that!!! Free Wi-Fi!!!

Gerardo Greist: It's getting better, but slowly. They're opening some commuter rail lines out to the suburbs (only to Cedar Park so far, later this year). Elsewhere in the suburbs there are no public transportation options into Austin except vanpools (sponsored by Capital Metro). If you live and work in central Austin, the bus will serve you well and it's possible to live fine without a car. If you don't live or work on a bus line, or if you are far out enough that you would have to transfer buses, then it becomes much more of a hassle and you'll probably want a car. It is not uncommon for a 10-15 minute car ride to become! an over-an-hour bus ride.If you don't have a car, you will want to make decisions as to where you will live and work based on the bus lines....Show more
