Seema Hosfeld: I've always heard that hairspray destroys are ozone layer. I'm no scientist but that's why we have Global warming(because the ozone layer is being destroyed). So if that statement is true then yes, hairspray still affects the environment. If it is, i think they should make a type that doesn't.
Abraham Ladick: Aerosol in a can will affect the environment in a negative way. This is why I only purchase a plastic spray pump bottle which you can recycle.. Now, sometimes on the bottle it will actually let you know if it is fine for the environment. Always check the labels.
Gerardo Greist: CFCs contained in aerosol sprays have been linked to ozone depletion. CFCs are the propellants in the hair spray - like when you have a metal can and it sprays much better than the plastic ones - because the plastic hair sprays don't have CFCs in them (they spray by using a pump instead of chemicals).
