Lon Pennington: The only other thing you can do is major in special education and become fluent in ASL. Then at least you can have a foot in the door. Start volunteering in the deaf community or possible work for a deaf school or day care. Really, the best thing is to go to the appropriate program, though you can work around it. It will take you longer to get a job.
